So, back in 2018, I did a comic to retell a horror one-shot rpg session I hosted the year before. Page after page, I put more effort in it and decided to make it a project for a college exam. It was one of my first semi-professional comics.

In the background, a few houses can be seen. A picture of five rhombuses arranged in a cross, drawn in the dirt. The page says "Chapter One - Gathering". Two strangers travel into a ghost town riding horses. One goes inside a saloon, dropping a few gold coins on the counter, asking for water. The man comes outside, telling the other, a swordsman with a large hat, that there's no water. The two discuss the shortage of water brought by the drought. The swordsman mentions the local priest of Chton, a man he'd trust "with his own life". As they approach the temple, they see a drunkard lying on the ground, half-wasted: an old penitent farmhand that sometimes helps the priest.

A monstrous bird-like creature standing on its hindlegs and screaming. The creature has violet wings with thick, osseous, blade-like dark pseudo-feathers with pulsating veins running through them. The creature's corvid beak opens unnaturally as a fanged maw, shining a bright light from inside the large throat. A bright violet aura is emitted from the creature's sound, like a soundwave or a halo. The creature sports a massive wishbone, and under its belly, multiple faces and vestigial arms grimace and claw around. The monster has a large, crostacean-like tail ending with a fan of black feathers. Beyond the creature there's a grey wasteland under blue-violet, iridescent skies. A huge, scarred and glabrous humanoid stands, clad in black, leathery bat wings from his back. The monster joins his long-clawed hands together and looks down with his fanged, scarred visage upon a man in the foreground, looking up to the monster from a cliff. The cliff is covered in a white substance (snow, ash?) that is marked with the footsteps of the man rising over it, and many skulls are buried beneath the surface. The man is much, much smaller than the giant vampire, at least ten times smaller, if not more. A black, cracked ring of metal hovers the towering vampire's head like a halo, and projects light around it in the otherwise black background. A monstrous scaled spider-woman. Her limbless torso rises from where a spider's mouth would be, and all the eight limbs of the spider are elongated, white and gangly, ending in fully functional seven-fingered hands. The head of the monster has incredibly long, white straight silken hair, falling in front of her. The woman has a hybrid face between human, insect and reptilian, with six visible eyes, mandibles around the sharp-teethed mouth, and two curved horns rising to the side of the head, one horn slightly longer than the other. Behind the spider-woman, the black starry sky, with a waning(waxing?) crescent moon above the spider-witch, framed in a hole at the centre of a massive spiderweb. The picture is completely black and white with the exception of the spiderweb, which is red, slightly fleshy, and irregular. The spider-witch raises two of her limbs to the moon behind her as if she can reach or grasp it, while two other limbs stroke her hair. A representation of a Tzitzimitl, an aztec mythological creature akin to a skeletal deity related to eclipse events. Similar to the representation in the Codex Magliabechiano, the creature wears complex headwear filled with severed hands, wears more hands around its neck, and has strange eye-like protrusions in the joints of its clawed, bony body. Behind its headwear, a violet light pours through. In the background, four other shadowy figures, similar to the first, loom, their eyes and headwears faintly shimmering in the dark.
