I do realize that the Canadian Oil Industry are not all wearing white hats and embody perfection, but many are trying to do the right things. Here's one example.

Well snow is falling in Calgary. At least they are +16 on Monday. Still time to get the Christmas lights up before it's too cold. But the dog is getting short walks today. Which is funny because it's only -3 and in a couple of months that will feel balmy. Yup, I'm now officially an old grouch.

The group collecting petition signatures for a citizen's initiative to defund private schools in Alberta seem well organized. They have a website with a professionally shot video that seeks to highlight the disparity between public and private school funding.

Perhaps AB needs to start a petition (now that the UCP has made them easier to start) to resolve that AB never again uses the notwithstanding clause for ANYTHING. I'm sure that the AFL and the ATA members could provide the 200,000 signatures we'd need...

Well, clearly it's time to start a provincial petition to restrict the provincial government from using the notwithstanding clause. Make it impossible for this and all future AB govts from using the NWS clause in any legislation.

The Lt Gov *can* "exercise the right to deny or "reserve" Royal Assent if the bill violates the constitutional rights of Albertans or infringes upon federal jurisdiction."

The BTW legislation for teachers is obviously such a moment when she must do so.

The Lady of "Strong and Free" does not believe in our rights or our freedom. I know that health care workers are not keen on coming to AB. Now teachers won't
It will be interesting to see how overriding charter rights, forcing a rejected labour deal on workers, and threatening substantial fines will impact Alberta's plan to add and recruit 3,000 new teachers over the next 3 years.

Doug Ford needs to "stay in his lane". He is not in the Federal government and does not represent anyone outside of Ontario. Frankly the feds should lock the idiot up for interfering in the negotiations but we don't do that in Canada thankfully. But Ontarians must tell him to shut up and stop.
