I think gAI at game jams is *particularly* fucking gross. Game jams are all about celebrating creativity and cooperation. They're about trying a new skill, or working with someone new. They're about celebrating the joy of creation in all its messy, buggy, and most importantly, human glory.

GGJ spent all day yesterday arguing about this and have decided to do absolutely fuck all. They're whining that the gAI was maybe mistagged. Yet again their leadership is spineless and tiresome. EdJam26 will be platforming a local artists work (@clasticartistic.bsky.social) instead at our keynote.

The Global Game Jam theme reveal video has footage that looks very AI. They said if there's AI content in the video, it is completely unintentional.

They are pretty open about allowing AI and AI sponsors. So it wouldn't be such a long shot.

One of the puzzle types in Thinky Dailies is a Nonogram! It's a very famous logic puzzle trademarked by Nintendo as Picross. Coincidentally, two designers both independently invented Nonograms in 1987 — Non Ishida and Tetsuya Nishio.

In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights
A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. Po is in bed wrapped up in a blanket. The text below them reads "I know you were high at my mother-in-laws funeral..." More screenshots from the Teletubbies. Lala seems to be upset with a terrified Po. the text below reads "Did you kill the dog? Why would you do that?!" A third screenshot from the Teletubbies, this time the same scene as before. Po is wearing an apron while Lala seems to still be upset at him. The text below reads "You're nothing but a failure of a man."

I've played all the games here. Some purely out of design curiosity.

It gets harder to recommend playing some of the older ones. Like, I've played Ultima IV, and I'm glad I did. But when talking about it, I'm tempted to recommend waching a video and then playing SKALD or Moonring.

As part of the Draknek New Voices Puzzle Grant I mentored this developer on The Detective's Apprentice last year, and I'm incredibly proud and excited for this game 🤩💖

It scratches a real puzzle itch with complex but incredibly satisfying cases. It's something special and one to watch, for sure.
