Mindblowing: Making water interact with pigment and something called a brush on century-old technology called paper creates beautiful ghostly images.

canada continuing to drop the ball on taking tech policy seriously
Canada did a consultation on a new national AI strategy, formed an expert task force to write 32 reports, then used AI to analyze the responses & reports. The result is a summary that strings together 100s of vague action items & flattens nuance and policy trade-offs into false consensus

This painting is by Goya: The sleep of reason produces monsters.
Not to be dramatic but I'm struggling more and more with the idea that life has any sort of meaning. I question human nature constantly and inch more to the idea that things will never generally improve. Six years ago we had a chance to veer towards better behaviours but now, it's plain psychosis.

I’ve been waiting for an album to blow mi mind.
'Whether an angular groove so watertight it can serve as a song’s foundation, or a little lick of slide guitar that ups the sweetness just the right amount, Dry Cleaning have never felt so closely intertwined'

trying to preserve what energy and focus I have, maybe you are, too: moving quickly and lightly past bad takes that I already knew to expect, old arguments that won’t get settled in a crisis, just general bad vibes in search of a landing zone in someone else’s empathy

More and more articles about how we are being knocked over the head to force us to adopt AI. They're desperate.

Respect for artists makes elevates companies. Generative AI cheapens everything.
Bandcamp has formally introduced a new policy banning music and audio generated wholly or largely by AI from purchase on its platform. Bandcamp said: “With this policy, we’re putting human creativity first."

Canada’s minister of artificial intelligence and digital innovation, Evan Solomon, says regulation should be “light.” But as AI rapidly transforms jobs, privacy, and power, critics are wondering: Who is this optimism really for? https://thewalrus.ca/evan-solomon-ai/

What I've been reading. I wish I could learn about William Blake more in-depth. I think we need imagination and symbolism.

🧵Solidarity with Francesca Albanese.

She is facing a barrage of lies and smears + the Trump Admin is calling on the UN to fire her.

Why? Because there is simply no arguing with her devastating new report on the companies profiting from genocide.

Stay tuned for our interview on @zeteo.com.

@mark-carney.bsky.social I want to believe that backing from taxing tech companies is a very calculated measure and not giving in to the big baby down south. He surely will come up with another excuse to avoid trade talks. I don't want to be disappointed in your government.
