A reminder:

1. Don’t stop contacting your UCP MLA, the Education Minister & the Premier to tell them you object to their preemptive use of the notwithstanding clause.

2. Be civil when you do. Don’t swear. Don’t lob insults. Just firmly express your opposition. #abpoli

There is speculation the UCP will invoke the notwithstanding clause tomorrow for its 3 laws restricting the rights of trans and gender diverse youth. This requires legislative amendment so will need to be voted on by the Leg. It is Transgender Awareness Week and this timing is beyond shameful.
@jenniferkoshan.bsky.social Jennifer this is correct I think. Smith is using the Notwithstanding Clause again. I wanted to check with the expert!

When the UCP uses the notwithstanding clause tomorrow, watch defenders say, "it's totally legal" or "we had no choice."

They're deflecting.

The UCP wants to exact as much harm on transgender folks as possible. And they know their actions are not justifiable in a democratic society.

The UCP is widely expected to use the notwithstanding clause once again on Monday.

Why?

Not just because they can.
And not because they have to.

They're doing it deliberately, whether out of spite, laziness, or expediency.

When does she morph into Smith 2.0? Has she already?
