This isn’t news, it’s pro-billionaire propaganda.
Fuck your for needing a, checks article, a coffee/pastry ONCE a week just to feel some sort of joy for however fleeting that may be
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

All those Indians carrying the MAGA water take note. They will come for you
Does this guy support the Afrikaaner “refugee” programme? Cause I’d love to see his thoughts when he finds out they use these honorifics for unrelated elders too
Bastard should’ve been in jail years ago
Wait no I was wrong.
““A lot of us on the ground have already made wills,” Prim says. “I said goodbye to my brother two weeks ago, just in case. He knows there’s a good chance I don’t make it out of this.””
This has to be the bleakest sentence in this article

“Prim the street medic wears it every night, attempting to conceal her identity from a government that has made it explicitly clear that she is an enemy of the state.”

Anti-fascists are recalibrating how they protest in response to Donald Trump's crackdown on dissent following the killing of Charlie Kirk.

A sneak peak at tomorrow's Remap Radio and our inability to have a serious discussion while trying to discuss a video game about balls:
Nice. Maybe there’s hope for the survival of the art

When I see game journalists write things like, "Maybe that company will just license out this game (which uses someone else's IP) to another company," I can only wonder why they don't simply ask, "Hey... how does licensing work? Can you explain it to me?"

Dozens of people who can speak to this.
As well but guess they’re more used to these programs for socialising after having gone through Covid
I’m surprised as I hardly see any teens at the movies. Just see young kids at movies for kid specific films
Is the Trump refugee plan really making waves in the various communities? Saw an article there other day stating that of the over 100 tickets/spots reserved for the “refugees” only three people showed up
There’s that Samurai battle royale show coming soon that looks interesting.
Will check it out
At least for now British crime shows are still doing well for me. From the absurd cozy village murder fears (Midsommer murders and the like) to the gritty, dirty crime shows. Quite enjoying Maigret and Blue Lights
I find K and J dramas very hit and miss. Some absolutely hit hard, but there’s a lot of stupid, filler too. There was one about gun violence that I watched recently and swung wildly from absurd comedy to intense violence that was way too jarring. Been catching up on anime where I expect those swings
Sadly don’t think there are independents theatres in Joburg or at least close to where I am
There’s also the length of movies. Man why did latest MI need to be close on 3hrs?! When did we lose the ability to tell a complete compelling story on 90mins to a max of 2hrs?
It’s a way to maximise revenue per ticket and justify the cost of those projectors they all bought. But that is all offset by the fewer tickets they sell judging by how empty theatres are. Would love to see their revenue models
I really thought i should watch Naked Gun in theatres to get that communal joy, but the cost man. And also doubted how communal it would be cause very few people seem to be going (cost) and the aforementioned phone scrolling
But even tv shows for me are losing their lustre. The mandate that there have to be dumbed down as a second screen/watched while ironing experience means that increasingly shows are just boring af and not meant to be engaged with on any level.
That was F1 for me. Story and realism 1/10 but damn those races were amazing
The Del Toro one? I find I don’t get drawn too a theatre by his name. I’m just but seeing anything on the horizon that screams it must be experienced in a theatre. F1 did and it was amazing in the theatre, but that really was the last one. The comic movies didn’t really justify the trip
I watched Superman and FF in theatres and that was after a long break for the same reason. I usually am pissed off because everything is 3D and showings are too dim not to mention the people scrolling SM on their phones. So that also plays into it.
