The ancient Greeks used the term "myriad" to mean 10,000. But it also meant "countless many". In Chinese "wàn" or "萬" has the same double meaning. There is a cultural upper limit where all but numbers are just too big to understand as numbers.

For Americans it is anything ending in -illion.
