Ah correction, it's 9% of plastic waste gets recycled, which excludes plastics that stay in use for a while such as car parts, so less than 9%

Fun fact, we've produced around 12 billion metric tons of plastic since the 1950s when they first became commercially available, and only about 9% of that has been recycled :)

Like she is absolutely in a place of privilege in that she is still followed around the world and she is committed to sacrificing her own safety for the moral good, knowing that either they make her a legitimate martyr or they desperately hope they can break her spirit
