Bonfils was the key artist for Corinth's porn titles, and worked extremely fast designing eye-catching covers. Odd angles, dynamic color, and captivating subjects were all in his wheelhouse. Sadly, Corinth's mainstream book distribution was spotty and the series failed to catch on.

I ❤️ SERIES PAPERBACKS! Here's the seven 1960s pulp reprints by porn publisher Corinth. Written by Paul Chadwick under the house name of "Brant House" the original 1930s series was given a new mod look by cover illustration great Robert Bonfils. (more)

I can recall interviewing Chris Preksta way back in the day for my blog. It's a great example of good concepts realized economically with great production. I wish more folks followed the model. I think they could do well in this era of Verticals aka Microdramas.

It's really well produced and uses its limitations (single location, small cast) as assets for the story. It's cast well, giving us memorable performances without the need of celebrity. VFX are top-notch and reflect their serial and B-movie roots, but in a new way.

Back in the day there was a Japanese laserdisc, so there's a chance the original film negative elements exist somewhere. I ❤️ the idea the film starts w/ a scene from the invasion of Poland, and ties it back to Ming later on.

I wish this movie had received more airtime than it did. A wonderful tribute to Alex Raymond's comic strip that didn't try to update Flash, but leaned into and polished up his 1930s aesthetic.

One of my many jobs as a mad pulp bastard is to help filmmakers market their films in ways that a) draw eyeballs to their film(s), and b) draw eyeballs to their brand. I have created a line of #filmbooks - Cinexploits! - which feature the script, interviews, notes, stills, designs, and more.

This is why I republish books POD. They should always be in print so new readers can discover them. This whole "It needs to be scarce and collectible" is BS. Who does that benefit? Accessibility is the new collectibility.
