i think it's actually better to discuss what the problems with a book are instead of quietly not saying anything, so that people can learn and grow. does it potentially harm the creator's revenue? maybe! but readers also deserve to get an idea about whether or not they want to spend their money!

Probably connected to why a lot of the most successful F/F stuff is sexless, anodyne, and often written by non-lesbians (L&L as an example). It's slop that doesn't offend the reading public too much, and is not hostile to heteropatriarchy.
