Oh please please i am begging, don't use generative AI for any reason if you can avoid it.
It's being marketed as a quick time-saver, but it's messy, inaccurate, it is putting entire industries of people out of work, and the environmental impacts (energy and water usage) are huge and debilitating.

Continuing this thought, being part of a good writing group means you get to read some really awesome stuff, LONG before anyone else.
I can NOT emphasize enough the need as a writer to have good writer friends. I used to think writing was such a lonely thing to do, but doesn't have to be. You can have friends and partners who help you be better. I don't think I'd be half the writer I am today without my groups and alpha readers.

had a critique partner tell me two of my characters were "very baby bird coded this chapter" and as I edit, my MC refers to them as ducklings.
