like i get that it seem like homophobia would be a thing in fódlan given the whole "passing down genetic material as an aspect of nobility" thing but there's a ton of evidence that it's not a thing! the archbishop can marry people of the same gender as them & multiple ppl discuss it in both games

i def understand wanting to work through or reflect one's religious trauma in fanwork but the church of seiros is doctrinally not catholicism and sometimes people include details taken from catholicism that again, are directly contradicted in canon

i agree absolutely! this is a huuuge pet peeve of mine lol. also the lords all have fascinating relationships to religion and i feel like they are all reduced to like western stereotypes of atheism and guilt/shame that are not reflected & sometimes directly contradicted in canon

In the interests of following through on yapping more about the fe girls - have my old Tumblr musings on why carnivorous plants are such a good choice of interest for Bernadetta

Been thinking lately about how Bernadetta's love of carnivorous plants is basically a metaphor.

I used to own venus fly traps and the problem with those suckers is that they CANNOT be cared for normally or they wil DIE.

They need distilled water because their roots can't properly absorb minerals from regular water. They also can't be in nice ceramic pots because clay is too delicious and nutritious for them. They also like to hibernate during the winter and basically just play dead.

Carnivorous plants adapted to survive in an
environment that was so hostile to them that they can no longer be cared for normally.

Ya know... like Bernadetta.
