"Make up a recipe for a successful revolution.
"Take large masses of injustice, resentment, and frustration.
Put them in a weak or failing hegemon. Stir in misery for a generation or two, until the heat rises. Throw in destabilizing circumstances to taste. A tiny pinch of event to catalyze the whole

I'm always amazed by how remarkable and influential Jean-Claude Mezières' art is. These are from "Métal Hurlant" #7, 1976, a series called "Baroudeur de l'espace" ("The Space Adventurer").
I'm sure you can all think of many movies or TV shows who "borrowed" from these. #comics #BD #Art #scifi

I’ve finished “The Moon and the Sun” by Vonda McIntyre. It’s fine, I gave it 3.5/5 stars. I find it strange that it won the Nebula award however. More detail at my review below. #bookreview #readmorebooks

I greatly enjoyed this episode of @hugohistory.bsky.social with guest @jpnudell.bsky.social. Their discussion on "Canticle for Leibowitz" was very interesting, as well as their talk on the nature and importance of science-fiction as a literary genre. #scifi

In February, there are the Olympic Games and the launch of Artemis II. It reminds us that humans are capable of other things than stupidity or bullying. It's refreshing. #toughtoftheday #Sundaymorning

I finished "Rite of Passage" by Alexei Panshin yesterday. It was fine, but that’s about it. 3/5 stars. There is nothing wrong with it, but not much else either. More thoughts at the link below. #booksky #bookreview

I have just finished "The Citadel of the Autarch", the fourth entry of "The Book of the New Sun" by Gene Wolfe. 4/5 stars. It’s a remarkable series, although it didn’t hit me as hard as I thought it would. More details at the link below. #Wolfe #Urth #booksky

I have important news to share regarding my podcast. It's time to move on. See my post below.
My dear listeners and friends,

After four years and over forty episodes, I believe my podcasting days are over. I’ve loved making my podcast, it’s been one of the best experiences of my life. It has allowed me to dig into history as I did when I was younger.

We watched the finale of Stranger Things 5. Too long and a bit unsatisfying, although I like the doubt that hangs in the air at the end. Enjoyed watching it, probably won’t ever watch it again. 3/5, mostly because the effects are spectacular and the actors very good. The writing is pretty average.
