Meandering geology student seeking the next adventure. Desperate to explore, forced to study. Happiest barefoot in a lake, listening to folk music, with good books, good vibes. and no sense of time.

"Your focus determines your reality"
Blankets blocking the AC, blanket nest set up in bed, hot water kettle next to bed. I will be very unhappy, but it'll be fine.

I have been crying on and off most of the day about: "all of the undergraduates have left" when I am right. It perfectly exemplifies how support services has made me feel as a non-traditional student this past year. I don't actually exist to them.

THERE IS COLD AIR COMING OUT OF THIS VENT! HOW?! HOW?!

Time and time again, I return to the feeling that I struggle to encourage NT students to transfer. Being in the only one living in student housing makes that feeling even stronger.

Hey geologist Bluesky, did my son find a fossil? He was sorting rocks in the yard and found this guy. He wanted me to ask the internet if he found a fossil.

Could some carbonate ooids have formed through abiotic chemically oscillating reactions—not just biological processes? A new study by Papineau et al. challenges long-held assumptions about ooid formation & biosignatures.

Going to the school paper because I don't know what else to do. You can't just leave someone without heat or hot water for most of December and January.

How I'm dealing with bathing today. I'm so tired of this kind of thing.

"...since all of the undergraduates left..."
Am I actually invisible at this point?!

Oh, and not hot water. It's fine. This is fine. A roof is still something to be grateful for.

When I am teaching at a 4 year college, advocating for my own students to have housing and to be able to graduate, these cold and frustrating days will be well worth it. Spanish homework at the table in a down jacket will be a foggy memory!

It's a pretty bad day around here.

I want to teach at a four-year school because this is where the advocates for students who don't fit the mold are needed more so than a community college.

Heard back from emergency maintenance about the heat. Since I am the only person in the building over Thanksgiving and Winter breaks, heat will be off during both breaks to converse energy. They suggested getting a space heater. I'm so tired of feeling invisible.

Dumb to be bothered by this but yesterday only person in my life said they were thankful I beat cancer. Well I'm thankful for that! A lot to be thankful for this year!

332 of #365Minerals 🧪⚒️

Glaucophane:
- An amphibole group mineral
- Forms in the blueschist metamorphic facies (low temperature, high pressure)
- Its name comes from the Greek words "γλαυκός/glaukos" (sky blue) and "φαίνεσθαι/phainestai" (to appear) because of its colour #minerals

Woke up from too cold. Heat is off and I can feel draft coming around the windows. It is 31 degrees outside. Nose is cold. Sleeping bag, hat, gloves, thick jammies, fuzzy socks, extra blanket. Reslife offices are closed until Monday. My basic needs are met. Sleeping in mittens is fine.

I don't want small children and I'm meh on the idea of a future wife, but I hope that one day I have the space and resources to make sure that stray student have a warm Thanksgiving dinner, a seat at a table, and leftovers to take home. These things matter.
