But PLEASE send a personal message from you directly to your contacts. You have more influence than you realize.

Hi California friends!

I wanted to reach out about the special election coming up re: Prop 50. If you're like me, you likely got some flyers, or hearing TV/radio ads against it. Just know that they are funded by a single person: right-wing billionaire Charles Munger. Google him, he's a delight.

Given all the money MAGA is throwing against this, I wanted to get info out about what Prop 50 is, and what it isn’t. And to be clear: I generally do NOT support gerrymandering; however, Prop 50 is a reaction to the president openly calling for gerrymandered maps in red states to help him cheat. And make NO mistake: if Republicans pass their gerrymandered maps, and we don’t, it will be mathematically impossible for Democrats to win again, no matter our turnout. Prop 50 is about Democrats’ ability to stay competitive in the game Republicans have chosen to play.

So, the facts: What is Prop 50, aka ERRA?

Trump (and Republicans) are afraid they’re going to lose the midterms, so he’s rigging the game by having MAGA-controlled states redraw election maps to favor Republicans — thereby silencing Democratic voices and translating their votes. To counteract the effect of such actions, California’s legislature voted to put our new, bluer maps on the ballot this November. The bill continues to fair redistricting, gives voters the power to approve it, and is temporary — the maps expire in 2030.

Prop 50 only goes into effect if Republicans go through with their power grab (NARRATOR: TX has passed gerrymandered maps).

What Prop 50 Does:

Levels the playing field for 2025. No unfair advantage for rigged maps elsewhere.

Reaffirms independent redistricting as California’s default and calls on all states to adopt fair, impartial maps.

Puts voters in charge; emergency maps require voter approval.

Triggers only in states’ emergency redistricting; ends only if the partisan power grab in Texas proceeds.

Temporarily declassifies maps in 2025 and returns authority to the Citizens Redistric…
