In my leadership, I try to understand each employee as an individual: their strengths, stressors, ambitions, and life outside the office. We can’t make everyone happy all the time, but we can make sure people feel seen and supported.
What’s one leadership quality you value most?

For the first time, fewer than 30% of U.S. adults rate their mental health as “excellent.” As HR leaders and hiring professionals, this is a wake-up call: mental health isn’t just personal. Offering support, flexibility, and access to resources is how we help our teams thrive.
U.S. Mental Health Ratings Continue to Worsen
Twenty-nine percent of U.S. adults describe their mental health as excellent, down 14 points from 2019 and the first reading below 30%.

Managing people is a highly underappreciated skill. Not everyone feels comfortable speaking with their boss which is why I’ve always tried to be a safe place to land. The more human we make workplaces, the better the work becomes.

What’s one thing you’d change in workplaces to make them more human?

I’m passionate about reducing waste, which is why I introduced composting at the Roundstone office. Culture isn’t just how we treat each other, but how we treat our environment. When workplaces lead, those habits often follow people home.

One of the most meaningful parts of my role is checking in with new hires at 30, 60, 90 days, and one year. People often open up more outside their direct manager. Small conversations (stress, communication, even a desk!) drive real change. Culture starts with listening.

As the year winds down, I’m grateful for time with family. The simple moments of shared meals, quiet conversations, and laughter all bring perspective and joy. I hope this season gives you space to slow down and be present with those who matter most.

Rising healthcare costs trace back to the 1940s, when employer insurance emerged to give hospitals steady revenue and help firms attract workers under WWII wage caps. A temporary fix became today’s system, whose outdated incentives fuel complexity, high costs, and unmet modern needs.

I started a pottery class purely for fun… no goals, no pressure, zero talent. It’s been the perfect way to keep my hands busy and my mind quiet. Pottery works for me; maybe cooking, gardening, or painting works for you. Give yourself space to unplug and just play.

As we enter the holiday season, our company, team, and family are mindful of those struggling to put food on the table. Roundstone and its employees are partnering with RE:SOURCE Cleveland to stock their pantry and participating in a community food drive with our local center.

Our company gratitude wall ....just to name a few: "Grateful for yoga", "Thankful for Gabby at Paragon workouts",, "Roundstone and the COM team", "Cleveland Metroparks"! Even with things feel "heavy" we can pause and reflect on what we are grateful for, that's a RESET! Love our Roundstone team!!!

AI can lift the tasks that slow us down, but humans bring insight, empathy, and creativity. The real opportunity lies in upskilling and reimagining work so that people can do what only humans can. That’s where true change begins.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Aside from the worry of perfectly cooking the turkey (now thankfully my son Jack’s responsibility!) Thanksgiving is about great food, even better company, and taking time to appreciate all we have to be grateful for.

The best hires aren’t the ones who know everything... they’re the ones who stay curious and seek feedback. Skills change, but mindset drives growth. Here’s to building teams that never stop evolving.
What Exactly Is A Growth Mindset And How Do I Establish One?
The only way to stay relevant, deliver value, and advance your career in today's world of work is to establish a growth mindset. Here's how.

There was a time I thought a full calendar meant progress. Every hour packed, every meeting another step forward.

But I’ve learned that focus and busyness aren’t the same thing. When we move too fast, we often trade clarity for activity, and confuse momentum with meaning.

More than 40% of companies are now promoting from within, and that says a lot about where success starts. Growth happens when we invest in people. Upskilling, feedback, and trust turn new hires into future leaders and helps every employee thrive.

My daughter recommended the podcast What I Wish I Knew in My 20s. One takeaway hit hard: when you're spiraling, stop and take one small step. Don’t solve everything at once—just shift into action. Turns out, learning has no age limit.

Sometimes leadership means helping someone move on. It’s tough after years of mentoring, but true leadership is about investing in people’s growth, even if their next opportunity is elsewhere. Supporting careers builds stronger culture and talent for the long run.

I just read Gallup’s latest findings. Fewer Americans now prioritize diversity in business, 69% which is down from 78%. Still, 64% say diverse teams boost innovation, and 61% see more profit. Those values may not always make headlines, but they drive creativity and real business success every day.
Fewer Americans see diversity as a business priority, Gallup finds
Even so, many people continue to link DEI with greater innovation and stronger profits, survey data shows.

Halloween is that magical time of year when we get to let loose, get creative, and embrace a little bit of spooky fun. But for me it’s also a reminder of moments that bring a smile or laugh. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and delightfully eerie Halloween with maybe a bit of harmless mischief!🎃

Modern life is full of contradictions…. be productive, but don’t burn out; stay offline, but show up online. If you’re feeling stretched thin, know that you’re not alone and you don’t have to do everything to be doing enough.

Your first job isn’t your forever job. You’re allowed to grow, pivot, outgrow. I’ve seen interns become execs and assistants become managers at Roundstone. Your journey defines you more than your titles ever will. Keep going. You’re building more than a career.

Burnout is real, especially when the pace doesn’t let up and balance feels out of reach. Some teams are struggling, others are rethinking how they support their people.

How about you... what’s your energy like these days?

Life doesn’t have to be a tug-of-war between personal and professional. New research shows when we see our goals as connected with career supporting family and rest fueling focus, we feel more motivated, less burned out, and more fulfilled. Harmony isn’t a luxury, so why do we treat it like one?
How to Create Harmony Between Your Personal and Professional Goals
Life can sometimes feel like a zero-sum game, where you have to let go of some goals (like a successful career) in order to pursue others (like a satisfying social life). But chasing multiple dreams doesn’t have to mean choosing between them. New research across 11 samples in 10 countries found that those who were able to draw connections between their goals (seeing them as complementary or mutual

Empathy helps us understand each other... but it’s compassion that creates change. When we turn understanding into action, we make a real difference. Don’t stop at feeling for someone. Take a step that helps.

When my daughter was four, she wore princess outfits one day, baseball outfits the next. No hesitation, just joyfully herself. I think about that often. How powerful it is to show up as we are and how that helps to build real trust and connection.
