I'm a poet and I write and illustrate picture books. Poems in New Ohio Review, Poet Lore, Pleiades. http://www.mariasprogress.com My name is Maria, but it is pronounced Mariah which was the first trick my parents played on me.

This is my poem in the New Ohio Review. Its about victim blaming, gaslighting, being polite.
Love the pointy little tooth with those gentle eyes. :)
I never learned how to make reels and today I had to make one for work and jesus christ people do this everyday for fun? This must be how my grandma felt when she asked me to teach her how to use a mouse.
I'm 36 and I have been writing poetry for 18 years and now someone wants me to give them a poetry lesson but that seems a little bit soon right?
I grew up in a small southern town and I was under the impression that dirt bikes and ATVs were good clean fun for "Real Americans"?
Ok im watching Next Gen NYC and i get that Charlie is a villain but why are these 24 year olds so hung up on him being 29 (almost 30!) Boy are they going to be surprised when they find out that they are also almost 30.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Not that I give a rat's ass.

ICE just abducted a leading contender for the New York City mayorship for asking to see a warrant.

I need everyone to understand that they are not a law enforcement agency — they are Donald Trump’s secret police.
And then my house started to smell like mildew so I had to carry the mattress outside by myself and it's trash day but I missed the pick up. And now I feel sad. Has this ever happened to you?
Dear Diary, today I tried to be *earth friendly* and buy a used mattress off fb marketplace but when it arrived it was moldy but I paid for it anyway because I wanted them to like me. In fact I also bought a boxspring I didn't ask for because they had already pulled it out.

If you take one thing away from today, let it be that we outnumber them.

“A deranged maniac impersonated a police officer and killed lawmakers but if you’re an immigrant be sure you immediately comply with plain clothes people who won’t identify themselves telling you to get in a van”, what a fuckin country

Authoritarianism is weaponized abuse. It's meant to exhaust you, activate you, force you into a conservative position in which you don't fight and you ignore the day-to-day brutality and sacrifice people.

Where we're going, you have to ground, see it all as important and everyone as essential.

This is still one of the best ways to limit deportations. Stop collaborations between ICE, local police departments, sheriffs, and county jails.
Where should I send my poetry chapbook?
What does welcoming Trump voters under the tent even mean? Like I welcome republican voters to not vote republican. And I do not welcome them to push the democrats further right.
What are your tips for asking your mother to not come to your poetry readings?
We are moving and Henry found this little bell I can use when I am ready for him to bring me my coffee. 💕

If you're a Google Workspace customer and you have already opted out of gemini for your workspace during the beta, you will need to do so again for GA. Coming by end of this month (April 2025).
But as a liberal bootlicker, I think it is ok to clap for Cory Booker filibustering today, while expecting more.
I'd call it a start. Or an effort to delay a vote that delayed a vote. You could call it performative. But not low effort. It's been 18 hours. That's preparation, effort, pain... I am also angry with how cooperative the democrats have been. I think we both want more obstruction from our reps.
but it's not low effort to talk for 14 hours.
Happy to have a poem in the new issue of @themassreview.bsky.social

Tesla stock price tanking gives us all a warm fizzy feeling, but until now it was still higher than it was on election day. Not any more. 🥰🥳
