"Hey cursor, do you think you can add a gitlab instance to the app stack defined in the compose.yml?"
"sure, here you go!"
"cool, thanks....but...uhhh....this doesn't actually run."
"You're absolutely right. Allow me to waste a bunch more api calls while you walk me through the correct solution!"

I've been buying audiobooks and using audiobookshelf for locally hosted storage and playback. It's great, but finding books to buy has been rough. I _definitely_ have not been breaking audible DRM. But I'd prefer to support a market place that supports authors and caters to consumers...

Subscribing to this thread. Supporting drm free ebooks and audio books is my jam. Especially from that author

I was today years old when I learned that Rutherford from Lower Decks is Pillboy from The Good Place.

Also, if you haven't watched one of those shows, definitely do.

You know what? That would be absolutely delightful. I think the two of us would have a wonderful time building stuff together

I've been wanting to build a voron for so long now. I love my bambu machines because they just work. But there's something special about building your own machine.

The number of times I've accidentally bought pirated media from eBay, Walmart, etc. This is what happens when you don't make media available to buy. I'd rather buy something and support the people that created it. But investors value subscription dollars more than "regular" dollars, so here we are.

I’ve lived in SD ~30 of my ~40 years, and SoCal for all of it. I can’t remember anything like this happening before. Certainly not in the middle of the day. Pendleton has a huge variety of live fire locations. It’s massive.

Unscheduled live fire exercise at Camp Pendleton over I5 closes down the freeway in a location that basically doesn’t have any detour. Ordered by the White House. Blocks a major La <-> SD corridor. In the middle of the day. A very specific day. I’m sure it’s a coincidence

I've been using ghostty for a little bit, but the moment it starts adding AI I'm out. Watching this thread intently.

I had my annual physical today. “No lactose intolerance?”
“Well, I mean…it’s like 66/33? Depends on how tasty the cheese is”

Someone recently said a very sweet and kind thing in my comments section, about liking my voice any watching my content just because it's soothing. That inspired me to list the creators who resonate with me in the same way...

Boop, no question.

Growing up in Sunday school I always thought “taking the lord’s name in vain” was using “god”, etc in exclamation.

It wasn’t until much later that I realized it was talking about exactly this, and all of the other efforts to co-opt the idea of god for marketing (sales, politics, justification, etc)

Feds, If you want to open up a dialog with offensive security professionals in the area, showing up at their house without context is going to skew that conversation towards defensiveness and suspicion. start a conversation first. Email, phone, etc. if they don’t respond, maybe don’t just show up.

Historical long bow also gives me the excuse of outdated equipment for when I’m not hitting yellow (or even blue) often 😅

As a gadget guy I get very tempted by getting into Olympic or compound, but I find my wooden stick lets me worry less about tuning and accessories and just enjoy the outdoors and focus on the process.

That said I do think competitive “bare bow” might be a happy middle ground for me

That's awesome, how long have you been practicing archery? I've found it's a really great counter hobby to tech work. Very meditative.

Platform native tools also tend to have lower integration friction and wider user awareness. I’ll take something that is less capable but actually used over “peak security” that is so cludged down that implementation is forever half done and most of your users avoid it or bypass it.

Also, get credit for revenue contribution. Security contributes significant budget and resources to RFP questionnaires, audit/compliance/certification, operational capabilities, etc. All of which significantly factor into a customer signing on the line. Need to change the "cost center" dialogue

I was going to update to 11 before 10 went EoL, but I wanted to set aside some time and prep a fresh install. Also, how are we 4 years into this OS and we still can't move the damn taskbar without a buggy reg hack?
r00k @r00k.net · Sep 11
I've been declining Win11 update ads for months. There was a full screen one at login the other day that took 3 clicks to get passed.

Last night Win11 was installed during what looked like a normal OS update. I should have read closer, but none of the previous indicators were present.
