Today I received my very first payment for chef services rendered! Two retreats, four dinners per retreat plus a dessert on the closing night. It was so much fun, and not something I had planned, but was so unbelievably rewarding and fun!

Truthfully, I have already used Ben's guide to set up my consulting clients properly on Notion. This is a wildly comprehensive guide for anyone working with teams!

Time to celebrate shipping!!!
Alpha launch! First modules of Architecting Workspaces are with alpha testers. This is my guidebook (and toolkit) for building fault-tolerant and scalable Notion workspaces for teams. My consultant's manual. More in the coming months. For now, giving myself time to celebration! 🎉

Had a blast in this one-day Indian cooking class at the Northwest Culinary Academy of Vancouver; @typeoneerror.com got it for us as a birthday gift!

Their setup and processes are so dialled in, and the instructors are wonderful. Maybe i'll have to take some of their bread/pastry classes next 🤤

Being conflict avoidant is not a badge of honour; you're just making things more challenging for everyone around you who is bending over backwards trying to understand your silence, indirect cues, or mixed messages.

Being honest and direct is a life skill truly worth cultivating.

Here's my take: the search for the “perfect” productivity system is keeping you stuck.
Pretty much every "system" teaches the same fundamental behaviors, just wrapped in different terminology.

I saw someone genuinely irritated that Taylor Swift fans are having some moments of joy these last couple of days despite the horrors of the world, I want to reassure that person that when the Taylor Swift fans are done having their joy the horrors will still be there, don't worry, they can catch up

Artistry is EI (expressive intelligence—an intelligence developed by creatively exploring meaning-making and feeling) rather than the process of producing an artifact of skill (technical talent).

Technical reproducibility doesn’t capture the aura of artistic expression.

nulla machina nisi cerebrum
there's useful automation, and then there's this broader lie they're telling: error-prone, environmentally problematic software built and managed by terrible people is a perfectly symmetrical replacement for talent, education, age, and experience

I once fought in a pillow fight league as Marie Slamtoinette. We trained for months, developed wrestler-style intros and costumes (I made mine!), then fought in a refereed fight at a bar in Vancouver. People could take bets which raised money for a women's shelter. I won my fight against Sue Nami!
