Maybe I'm nostalgic for what Twitter once was, maybe I'm optimistic in thinking BlueSky can rekindle some of that magic, or maybe I'm an idiot for thinking this can be a place to connect with interesting people, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful dialogue, but I'm willing to find out. So, hi!

This is Poet. He would have really crushed it as a barista in the early to mid-2010s. Born in the wrong decade smh. 12/10
Exactly. And this is part of the reason why we can't have nice things, i.e., a clean sport.
And while we're on the topic, why do the Chicago Marathon and other races in the Marathon Majors series continue to do business with Federico Rosa given the long list of high-profile athletes he’s represented that have failed doping tests? This is one of the biggest travesties in pro running today.
The fact that Cheptngetich's WR will be allowed to stand is total bullshit. If you think she was clean in Chicago then I've got some oceanfront property in Kansas I'd like to sell you.
Marathon world record holder Ruth Chepngetich has been banned for three years after testing positive for hydrochlorothiazide.

Because her positive test didn't come until five months after the fact, her world record of 2:09:56 will stand.
This week: Some simple truths to find your footing when life's moving too fast, a podcast w/Steve Kerr on taking the game-winning shot, a couple thoughts on Chicago, and a lot more. Please comment and/or share if you’re so inclined. Thank you. 🙏🏻 themorningshakeout.substack.com/p/the-mornin...

Great insights, Henrik!
Agree. I enjoy going to a coffee shop, preferably my local one but Starbucks does the job when my main objective is to get out of my house for a bit. But with a cup of black coffee approaching $5 I’m doing it less and less. (Luckily I can still buy a decent bag of beans at Trader Joe’s for <$10.)
iPhone Air is hilarious to me. I've never heard anyone complain that their current iPhone was too thick and I'd venture to guess most of the people who get this new one are gonna shove it in a case anyway to protect that ridiculous camera bump.
Because they don't have a clue.
That's an understatement.

❝The committed ones, however, prioritize the pursuit […]. The effort is consistent but never crazy. They carry a quiet confidence that it’s all going to work out. […] They’re in it for the long haul.

Skipping breakfast had a great PR campaign and rebrand as 'intermittent fasting' recently, but what are the health and performance implications of it?

I had a look at this exact question in this piece:

Track & Field - loves rhetoric about being "limitless" - There is no ceiling on our potential

Also track & field - surprised when athletes violate moral limits (cheat)

If all the attention & praise is fixed on breaking records and going faster whatever the cost, cheating seems inevitable.

Ha! Along the same lines, a lot of middle-high school age kids here wear Nirvana tees. One of my favorite games is asking them their favorite song or album. 99% respond with some version of: “I don’t know. It’s a cool shirt.” 🤦🏻‍♂️
I could be wrong but it reeks of desperation.
