Kim Caldwell with dark hair threw me for a loop.
Basketball? Basketball.
The XFINITY form to close the account of a deceased person has a “best contact number” for the current account holder. You cannot make this s*** up.
Me every year: “I’m not gonna go long.”

Mmkay.

Anyway, here’s a nearly 5,000 word team-by-team ACC preview, and I didn’t come close to emptying my notebook from Tipoff.
"With so much change, it's going to be exciting to see who really rises to the top and who does what."

Yeah, Otter, I don't think a reporter or Shawn Poppie said my name while discussing Rusne Augustinaite and her recruiting/visa. Thanks though.
There is not a single un-awkward way to say "well, it hasn't been the best year, I lost my stepdad, secondary maternal figure and mom all before mid-June." None.
Notes on 36 athletes attending ACC Tipoff:

- 13 are in 1st year at current school. Only freshman, though, is WF’s Milan Brown.

- 15 juniors, most of any class.

- 4 grad students, all in 1st year at current school.

- Clemson’s Demerara Hinds, a WF transfer, is only intra-ACC transfer attending.
Pardon the supremely awkward selfie, but is it really a WBB event in charlotte if you don’t travel there in an Ally Tipoff shirt?

See you soon Queen City/ACC Tipoff/basketball season
I'm Marissa, a 30something living in NC, where my main/day (let's be honest, 24/7) job is a SAHM to 2 kids, 6y & 16M, but the reason many of y'all are here is I'm also a contributor at @herhoopstats.com, where I cover the ACC plus some other/national college stuff.
So, I guess, allow me to reintroduce myself, especially since I have so many new followers, I'm guessing from being on WBB lists (Thank you to those that have included me, I truly appreciate it).
Many days I still struggle, especially with *gestures vaguely at what's going on in the world*, but as college basketball season approaches, I am planning on wading back in here a bit, although I'll probably still be on here less than I was.
Add in the fact that I lost my stepdad in January after a longer battle with cancer and my secondary maternal figure in March (at 50-something out of nowhere), & I just couldn't deal with anything outside my small immediate family bubble.
To say it knocked me for a loop would be an understatement. My mama was a single mom for the first 16 or so years of my life, and she was my absolute rock. I miss her so, so incredibly much, especially since she was set to move closer to us to be near her grandkids.
👋🏻, especially to my numerous new followers.
As y'all may have noticed, I all but disappeared from here since ~April. That's when my mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma, & she passed away in June, not even making it 2 months from her diagnosis due to how terrible/advanced/fast-growing her tumor was.
Representing the ACC coaches is Florida State HC Brooke Wyckoff, who notes that she has been a part of the ACC since she was 17, having also played for the Seminoles.
There will be an additional session of school games on Wednesday.

One of my big questions with the move was how they’d fill the first few days, which were usually filled w/ fans from NC teams.

There’s one answer, along w/ some outreach initiatives that are in the works, per Commissioner Phillips.
Jackie Carson, the ACC Senior Associate Commissioner for Women's Basketball, says that there were 5-6 cities that submitted bids for this tournament, including returning to Greensboro, but the Gwinnett County/Gas South bid came out strong and pulled away.
She says when she was asked to come talk, even with her squad in the midst of a playoff series, she said there was nowhere else she’d rather be.
Live at the ACC WBB Tournament welcome reception at the Westin next to Gas South Arena, where the tournament will be held next spring.

Opening comments by Morgan Shaw-Parker, president and COO of the Atlanta Dream.
Glioblastoma can f*** all the way off.

As can anti-vaxxers. Didn’t think “managed to get my kid to his first MMR without him contracting measles” would count as any sort of accomplishment in 2025, but here we are.

This is a heck of a proof of life post, but I’m too overwhelmed to care.
So I just got food delivered to the hospital, and my DoorDasher brought me flowers. Small gesture, but it meant a whole lot.

$5k doesn't even cover rent, utilities, and perishable infant expenses (diapers, formula, wipes, etc.) for the average American family for a month, bffr

Toxicologist here! This will improve the health of zero Americans. Current synthetic food dyes are not causing health problems, and are often times used because they are actually safer than natural food dyes. Reminder that guns are the #1 cause of death of children but we are going to ban food dyes.
BREAKING: The FDA has officially announced they will be banning artificial dyes in the food supply by the end of 2026

This includes Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3
