The work is where the hurt is no.2

(1/3) When you find yourself some stillness, ask yourself what your are avoiding and how. Where do you feel it? Let that feeling radiate through your body. Bonus: sometimes we also use a pain or discomfort to mask a deeper and more core struggle.

The work is where the hurt is.

As an artist, we must embrace our shadows to allow the truth of our essence to manifest in our art.

Specifically, as a singer, the truth of our vocal expression can only go as deep as we are willing to dive within ourselves.

Kinesthetic Imagination:

When our conceptual understanding of the body does not align with the reality of its design in the physical world, we can run into problems. A lot of the work in singer training is facilitating an experience, that challenges how a singer uses themself (voice) in the world.

How often to do you gift yourself an opportunity for stillness?

Constant overstimulation numbs our intuition, and can limit our artistry.

Feel your feelings!

Perception is everything. To be a great singer requires two tasks:

1) learning to perceive the world, and yourself in the world, deeply and with great sensitivity.

2) expressively sharing your experience, through the voice, with great precision and clarity.
