We are very sad to hear the news of Mike Corbishley's passing.

Mike was a long-time supporter of the CBA and co-founder of YAC. We’ll be celebrating Mike’s life and contributions in an upcoming issue of British Archaeology.

As someone who is about to be affected by the new ILR rules, I took little comfort from the PM's speech yesterday. I can't speak for everyone affected but I certainly feel the message of these rules is that no one from other countries is welcome here and will only be accepted begrudgingly

Migrants already "earn the right to settlement" through extortionate visa costs, which can run into tens of thousands of pounds. They prop up key services, including through the Immigration Health Surcharge.

Pushing the hostile environment on steroids helps no-one.

Is there no-one in Labour who knows an immigrant (or emigrant)? The existing rules are terrible, these plans are just horrendous. Is there no-one close to the leadership who thinks immigrants having to pay taxes + NHS surcharge + fees + no access to any benefits is already outrageous?

At norske journalister og kommentariat i 99% av tilfellene vender seg mot engelskspråklige kilder er et problem i normale sammenhenger men blir ekstra kritisk når samfunnsdebatten i UK og USA går full kulturkrig og det eneste trikset du kan er å oversette det til norsk

Det var flaut å se Espen Aas som London-korrespondent, veldig overfladisk og "dette leste jeg i avisa" framfor kunnskap, funfacts-basert anglofil, så det overrasker meg ikke at det mangler kritisk tenkning om Kirk etc nå. Var akkurat det samme med Boris, Corbyn, Brexit etc.
