Yea I got enchanted by the 40th and Shafter yard. I really looking at local history by visiting various former locations. I just gotta build this yard. It's so wild that the Bay Area had effective Interurban transit in 1940. People often don't know how long electric lines existed out here.

December 6, 1930, Eastern Air Transport began service with Curtis Condors powered by the Wright R-1820 Cyclone engines. They served the New York to Atlanta route. In early 1931 they would stretch their route down to Miami, Florida thereby becoming the main north-south trunk line on the east coast.

On January 1, 1914, the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line made the nation’s first airline flight. The Benoist Airboat carried the pilot and one person. With pilot Tony Jannus at the controls, a crowd cheered as the craft took off bound for the Hillsboro River. It landed 23 minutes later.

On December 29, 1937, Pan American Airways inaugurated service between Auckland, New Zealand and San Francisco. The plane was a Sikorsky S-42 flying boat.

December 23, 1934. United Air Lines acquired ten new Boeing- 247D transport planes. Powered by Pratt and Whitney geared-supercharged Wasp engines. Because of the higher 189 MPH cruising speed United had to revise its schedules.
