From a research perspective, Root is interesting because it has asymmetric factions that all interact with the game world in vastly different ways. Their gameplay mechanics are very good at portraying how each faction works in the narrative of the game so I'd look at it from that perspective

It feels like a microcosm of the issues with these movies that the specevo is this good but the main aliens are so clearly designed to be the most alien love interests general audiences can handle before they get scared because the hero has to win over the exotic princess

I was so disappointed they sent firaxis to the Marvel licensed game mines but it's such a pleasant surprise and more unique than a hypothetical XCOM 3 they made in that time would have been. I do want to throw Tony Stark into the sun for being annoying though

2) is my experience irl too but I think if you have a published novel where it's seemingly part of the tone that you make millenial media references, it becomes less believable that you're so out of touch with fandom discourse AND publishing industry discussions that you've just never heard at all

Especially the panel when the starts yelling about friendship has the "camera" behind her back looking at Denji. She's been succeeding by being stubborn and believing in herself and her stated motivation has been to fight chainsaw man to prove that she's the strongest

I would argue Yoru has been the shounen protagonist these last couple of chapters, the power of friendship speech, her being powered up by people cheering, yelling her attacks out loud, the perspective even follows her more closely.

It's interesting in general what Umineko will give lengthy and sometimes repetitive explanations for vs what is left as an implication. And towards the end it even spells out directly why it explains the character motives so thoroughly but doesn't give clear explanations for all of the mysteries

my memory is blurry but iirc there's another funny aspect of this: if you try to grind and get through the battle this way, the level scaling for enemies kicks in and you don't have any way to get better weapons to keep up with it in the starting region, so the fight becomes harder
