I read the news today, oh boy...
Not particularly a Larry Summers fan, but I appreciate the fact he isn't engaging in the denialistic whining about conspiracies and political correctness and all the other crap the scumbags usually resort to.

Mar-a-Lago is the anti-Camelot. A place where ugly people masquerade as beautiful, a place of pessimism, anger, and self-serving greed rather than hope and optimism for a better future for all. It is a reflection of what our country has become.

I don't get the sense the media are pursuing the Epstein stuff with the same vigor they pursued, say, Hillary's emails, or Whitewater/Lewinskygate. It's just not what they are accustomed to doing with Republicans. Personal scandals are reserved for Democrats in the "both sides" construct.

In the phrase "I'm free, white, and 21," which word do you think is most important? This is the world MAGA wants, where that phrase makes you want to puff out your chest with pride, and think, "I'm somebody because I'm not one of them."

If I were the kind of person who was tempted to lament the mistakes of my youth, one look at what today's youth are going to have to deal with makes me feel grateful for the past I had. The future, with an angry, stupid population, and AI + right wing populism looming, looks like a hellscape /1

Today, Watergate would be treated as an opportunity to sell the news, nothing more.

Getting close to the time when 🍓 start tasting good. Got some today and they weren't quite there -- still a treat, but not that perfect blend of sweetness with a hint of tart that makes strawberries one of the royalties of the fruit world.

If you want to know how the media works and doesn't work, Trump has always had low approval ratings, yet the pundits never talk about his "likeability," as they did with Al Gore and, in particular, Hillary Clinton. Republicans do things, Democrats are things.

42% of the public still supports Trump's immigration "handling." And much of the disapproval comes from people who simply don't like Trump, and so are negative about everything. Immigration is not going away as an issue. It will remain the perfect wedge for populist charlatans like Trump.
Things are not good & the majority of US know it. 👇

Another example of Trump's ineptitude. Still, his white working class base thinks he's a great businessman, while his super-rich backers know better, but don't care as long as the tax cuts and corrupt deals keep flowing. In fact, that he's greedy and stupid makes him an easier mark.
a 50 year mortgage is more like debt peonage or renting from the bank. Why not 75 year mortgage?
Here's why Trump's 50-year mortgage policy is a terrible idea that will not bring down housing costs and will trap Americans in debt for generations:newsletter.ofthebrave.org/p/heres-why-...

This is going to be a huge test for both Greene and Trump. If Greene stands her ground and Trump's non-endorsement has little effect, it's a good sign he's done. Too bad the election is a year away.
Trump: “I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene…”

Part of the problem with surrendering on the shutdown is the Democrats now have zero credibility on holding the line for anything in the future. There will always -- ALWAYS -- be a handful of Democratic senators who will break any logjam in favor of the GOP, and everyone knows it. They won't hold /1

"Dirty Donald" Ought to have happened WAAAY earlier. But it won't stick, because the press focuses on what Trump DOES, not the person he is. Focusing on the person is what they do for (to) Democrats.

Although clothed in a conspiracy theory, she's pointing out how the media works. Note the word "forced." It reflects the fact cable news, with 24 hours of air time, HAS to talk about something. Hello, Hillary's emails. Hello, Old Joe Biden. Hello, Whitewater, and Monica, and inventing the internet.
LOL ... other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
November 14, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Enough people are idiots that this will work to some degree. The thing the GOP does well is appreciate the stupidity of large swaths of the American public, which the media cannot talk about because idiots are part of their market, and pointing out they are saps would offend them.
Fox Propaganda thinks we are idiots, who have no idea who jacked up tariffs on Brazil that made COFFEE prices go up in the first place. Or who eliminated EV incentives that will cause gasoline demand (and therefore prices) to go up.

Two things ought to stand out here: first their IQs (which were tested by Allied psychologists; these aren't some fanciful estimates); and second, the excuses and justifications some of them made. The general tenor is "We aren't bad guys, we were just led astray." law2.umkc.edu/faculty/proj...

Saw an article that quoted a woman who voted for Biden in 2020, was disappointed he didn't do more (shocker: she doesn't say what she wanted him to do), then voted for Trump in 2024 because he was a "doer," and now regrets her vote because he's doing the wrong things. And that is your 21st century.

Peggy Noonan's hagiography of Chuckling Ronnie, "When Character Was King,"wasn't intended as just Reagan fluffery -- it was also a backhanded slap at Clinton who, according to the media, might have had a highly successful presidency, BUT ... character! It's a perfect example of meta both-sidesism.

With all these remakes demonstrating creativity is failing, one thing I'd like to see someone take a stab at is Roddenberry's failed pilot centered around Gary 7. It is one of my favorite episodes of TOS, and while the idea has been used in different ways the Gary 7 character has been wasted.

It's a relatively minor thing, but all the best states for bike riding are blue. Which once again makes me wonder: exactly what do red states lead the nation in besides gun homicides?

That the entire nation isn't absolutely fuming with rage that millions are going to effectively lose healthcare while the super-rich are getting massive tax cuts is a testament to the fact we've become a shithole country.

The quality of produce at Sam's Club and Costco is so much better than what you get at supermarkets that it ought to be investigated. You really have no idea how crappy the stuff supermarkets have is until you try what the warehouse stores offer. It's just a different level of food.

Dana Bash sitting in her car talking about Jared Golden's decision not to run. Every once in awhile she does that "influencer" thing where they glance offscreen as though they're gathering their thoughts and you're getting a raw reaction and then ... the same stale, 30 year old talking points /1
