The weird Tory woman on #Gogglebox is crying because The Sound of Music reminded her of when people were nice.

It's a story about a posh wanker who can't stand his kids being kids and ACTUAL FECKING NAZIS.

I like that in this picture it looks like Dr Sam Beckett has just leapt into Badenoch's body.

"Oh boy!"

[Also, Ireland? Northern Irish people with Republic passports?]

I mean, where do I even start?

Let's go with one I watched today:

"12:45. Restate my assumptions. One: mathematics is the language of nature..."

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.

Watching The Sea Devils re-edit.

It is abundantly clear that modern Who just doesn't have enough fencing and (KAI-YA!!) karate.

The irony is that if the statue had shown two women, instead of a woman and a goose, the assumption would almost certainly have been that they were just good friends.

Ancient figurine may show sexual encounter between woman and goose
A 12,000-year-old clay sculpture found in Israel depicts a goose on the back of a woman, and archaeologists suggest it may be a depiction of an animistic mythological scene

FIFA has always been a bin fire, but Infantino's FIFA is one of those tire dump fires that burns for years - shitty and toxic and stinking.

Good coverage of the National Emergency Briefing that took place in London on 27 November in the New Scientist podcast (after the sperm).

One of the most shocking claims was about the impact of the North Atlantic Drift collapse and the end of UK agriculture.

Has anyone asked Irving Fisher about this *permanently high plateau"?
Nine major banks have released their forecasts for 2026 and the outlook is ... surprisingly bullish. Despite recent jitters over a potential AI bubble, analysts predict another year of double digit gains from US stocks — and not just in Big Tech.

"It's time to fight for the west"?

Ah now, catch a hold of yourself there, Liz.
I like a daytrip to Bundoran as much as any good Dungannon man, but I'm not getting into a clash of civilizations about it...

...and them Gaeltacht ones are well able to look after themselves.

Watching Sanjuro, which in my favourite Kurosawa/Mifune samurai movie (maybe not the best, but my favourite).

Weird that it never got a Western remake. There'd be a load of fun to have with the story and character.

Nerdy enough to be genuinely excited by the promise of a new Total War: Medieval.

Old enough for my blood to run cold at the promise/threat of a “bold revolution” an "exciting new era"...

Two things:

1. This story has, hands down (or up?), the best "disappointed councillor meets pothole picture ever"; and

2. You can take the hole out of Coalisland, but you can never take Coalisland out of the hole

Something ludicrous about Putin's corrupt regime (that has spent nearly four years failing to defeat one medium-sized Eastern European nation, and almost fell apart in a coup because of internal pressures) acting like Billy-big-bollocks to the rest of Europe

Counterpoint: the last time anyone could say "prices haven't increased" for any significant length of time in the UK was 1920-1940, and almost no one was having a good time back then, and the longstanding Tory/Liberal political balance was overthrown.
👇 This is a) obviously correct b) resisted by most in the political class because it makes so much of what we do redundant.
My extremely simple heuristic for the current political system is that until you can go food shopping and think prices haven’t increased / things aren’t expensive etc don’t expect any material political continuity.

Watching the Sky Arts three-part documentary "Greatest Basslines" (a good follow up to "The Art of Drumming").

The highlight has been following three brief minutes devoted to slapping and Mark King with Mani's heartfelt "Cut his thumb off!"

Rest in bass, Mani.

This is ridiculous.

The Norwegians would never do such a thing.

Everyone knows all the EU's nefarious plans for world domination are overseen by the Dutch, who are wickedness incarnate.
First time I’ve seen a post complaining about (((Norwegians)))
