Sugar maples are almost finished dropping leaves in my yard. Such beautiful colors. Many poplars haven’t begun to change yet, but they will soon. The apple trees still have their leaves.

Raven the cat focused on the hairy woodpecker who’s been pecking at the crevices in the exterior woodwork looking for spiders & insects.

Cold, frosty mornings regularly now. This morning temp was 25 degrees F. My daughter, son-in-law & granddaughter are coming this afternoon to stay for the weekend.

Officers use probable cause. As a school principal, I was allowed to use reasonable suspicion because I was responsible for the safety of 360 students on school property.

McLaughlin: "Pritzker said there's racial profiling, which is absolutely false. Our officials use reasonable suspicion. That's protected under the US Constitution 4th Amendment."

Absolutely absurd.

Rep. Brian Mast: "Everybody has been talking about, 'Will he get the Nobel Peace Prize?' -- those academics and elites sitting in Norway, that board of people that decide it, they need to give President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize."

(Trump praised Mast for this Fox hit on Truth Social.)

Senator Lankford’s statement that “tariff dollars” will be able to “prop up the women, infants and children fund that’s out there” is absurd.

The bushel basket is filling up with walnuts from the trees my husband planted 25 years ago. Plenty of nuts still on the trees as of today.

It varies, but mid- to late October is about that time. The first year I came to Colebrook (1997) it snowed October 8th.

Now it’s the poplars’ turn. Everywhere you look in the north country of NH, the eye-popping foliage w/ the spectrum of yellow/orange/gold/red is poplar leaves.

After several weeks of clear, warm, dry weather, the wind is picking up & rain clouds are racing to the northeast. NH weather station warns of a precipitous drop in temperature expected & that snow may fall at higher elevations.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

More tomatoes to make into sauce today. This will bring my stored sauce up to 4 gallons. I really think that’s enough, but I still have more tomatoes to process after this. Nuts. I hate to waste them.
