I almost fell for it. The Onion logo is so tiny, I almost missed it. Plus the url in blue hyperlink didn’t stand out against my dark background. Yesterday I saw a real headline and thought it *was* from The Onion until I checked further. These are dystopian times.

Russia is more adept at waging an information / influence war than it is at kinetic war. It’s been pursuing indirect efforts against Western democracy since before Khrushchev, and it’s gotten very good at it. I don’t know why it works. Russia’s efforts seem clumsy and obvious to me, but they work.

We know how incessantly they covered (and *still* cover) the physical and mental health issues of the last president. There is no comparison between the coverage in this case vs the previous case. It’s now discussed in independent media, thank goodness, but mostly ignored by mainstream media.

There seems to be a tendency here to prejudge that which has yet to be published. Some of it is apparently just a skepticism to anything that Russia attempts to do. But some of it is coming from a very different place. 🤷‍♀️

Protests continued with the 317th day in a row in Tbilisi. Doctors held a protest in support for the 72 years old doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili, who got arrested in his home yesterday. The arrests are continues and already more than 40 person got arrested in connection with the October 4 events.

Especially liked the coverage of Orban & Hungary. Orban‘s so like his fellow narcissist,Trump, in not owning his own problems. They both always find a scapegoat for their failures. In Orban’s case, it’s Ukraine. He can’t even acknowledge the ability of his political rival to outdo him in the polls.

Although some may have believed what they said, I think for most it was a convenient excuse to avoid “escalation“. I hope someone does a deep analysis of the escalation management theory when this war is over. The West is still pretty much in that mode even now.
