Really good point here. We need symbols, rituals, and shared experiences for our solidarity-building, morale-sustaining, and success as a resistance movement.
I think people really underestimate the function of ritual, grounding, self regulation, and co regulation in collective action.

AWFUL news tonight. This blesses the “mandatory” detention in the 5th Circuit without bond (and little chance at habeas) of every undocumented immigrant who originally entered across the border, no matter how many decades in the past.

It will fuel ICE’s push to transfer people to Texas immediately.

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

this may be the single most insufferable thing about the radical centrist caucus - not just extending good faith to obviously bad faith people but demanding everyone else do the same and chiding them when they don’t
A lot of our political discourse would be easier if we didn't extend good faith to people who would never extend it back.
