Launching fractions in a 4th graders class with a choral count is a fantastic way to access & assess prior knowledge. The vocabulary and ideas that emerged were beautiful! This no-pressure, inclusive task will help us determine next steps for instruction. #iteachmath #mathsky #edusky #fractions

Real world math stories and a good listen!
Asking kids what they think about math opened up a whole new world 🌍➗.

Their ideas guide our work more than any textbook can. What’s your favorite prompt to uncover student thinking? 💡

“So, while Science of Math claims to be based on an established body of research… it is not.”
Highly recommend reading this NCSM position paper.
Math education is complex. It can’t be reduced to single studies or one-size-fits-all claims.

NCSM’s new position paper offers a balanced, equity-centered, research-informed alternative—one that honors the real nuance of teaching + learning.

I was impressed w/the thoughtful design of this meta-analysis of teacher professional development intervention effects on student achievement. Overall effect was pretty small (Hedges g = .09); the moderators suggest the effect was present only in optimal conditions. #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky
