I salute your thoroughness. Do not ask your players what they think your AI is doing, because it will surprise and depress you. They will hate things it does not do, and praise things it also does not do. The clever stuff you actually put in - not mentioned. Just to manage expectations...

That said, in cases like this there may be nuances that can be appreciated when reading the judge's sentencing remarks (which I have not seen).

I suppose it is difficult in the context of how few rape prosecutions succeed and how light the consequences can be if found guilty.

There is a grey area in the middle. There are sentencing guidelines that will have to have been followed once a jury makes a determination (and that is where a large part of the decision happened, though prosecuting was a choice also), but the sentence feels disproportionate to me.

I have difficulties though. Increasingl we recognise that engaging in sexual activity with someone without their full consent (e.g. because drunk) is a bad thing that we have a name for. But (as you point out), there is dishonesty in courting (whether deliberate or not) and societally we accept that

I ran a wash after leaving stuff in the machine for two days, then forgot and left that for a day, and this rental quality washing machine has literal mold inside it, so it gets ever so special, and ... I am thinking of maybe just throwing away clothes and bedsheets after use and buying new ones?

I regularly see examples of how good AI is in the field of research (* google search summaries, et al). Having your academic paper judged by a pattern recognition engine that thinks the Titanic swimming pool is not full of water is another career low in a field where career lows flow like wine.
