I thought the project could still work out but Laz was getting to be better known by then and had cultivated the beard and hair and was clearly on track to be taken seriously. He moved on. No hard feelings. I mean he has a great gravitas headshot. Sort of a Lynchian Werner Herzog vibe.

We were working on a screenplay and it was going well, we even had backers & a director lined up. But it fell apart when we realized he thought the film was called “The Bläh” but I was working on a dark musical called “The Blob.” Which is all to say having good translators is crucial.

Saw my first flock of geese of the season heading south this evening. Gray feathers pink in the setting sun. The lead goose’s steady call blended with the sound of dying leaves rattling on their branches. I hope they all make it safely.

I’ve been slowly getting a bunch of tiny stories together to submit to a chapbook competition by the end of the month. It’s been a puzzle to choose and arrange them. But I think I might have 12 that belong together in one little book.

A year ago this would have been kooky satirical clickbait. Today it’s a list of plain facts. Trump is paying these people to terrorize their fellow citizens for profit.

Yesterday, Kristi Noem’s and Greg Bovino’s masked agents threw chemical agents near an elementary school, arrested elected officials exercising their First Amendment rights, and raided a Wal-Mart.

I’ve heard about this essay, “Who Goes Nazi?”, many times, never read it until today, and it’s not what I expected.

And this article about Dorothy Thompson is also worth reading.

Thanks! It’s been a while since I had one published so I am as well 🙂

Yeah, I’ve never understood writers who oppose all edits. Boggles my mind!

An editor sent me a proposed edit to a forthcoming prose poem—and it was brilliant. I was so happy they suggested it. Getting the chance to collaborate with thoughtful, talented people is a such a joy.
