Heyyyyyy. After a brief suspension, I got my backup back up! I'll just be using this as a temp platform for thoughts I cannot keep in the drafts until I can use Retired Mascots and my main again.

Don't know what those scammers are up to now but here's a thread to share in case they ever come back!

THE PERSON MESSAGING YOU HAS BEEN HACKED AND IS TRYING TO GET YOUR ACCOUNT.

THEY WILL TRY TO GET YOU TO CHANGE YOUR ACCOUNT EMAIL.

AGAIN, THIS IS A SCAM.

Well, that was a bloody nightmare. After ten days, Bluesky has finally retrieved this account and @retiredmascots.bsky.social! I have already set up a backup and will get in touch with anyone who has blocked me when I was compromised. Don’t trust anyone into crypto no matter how legit they may seem!

If you received a DM from this account saying "Hey! ☹️" (which I would never, ever do) or you got as far as receiving a reply about you being impersonated, that was not me.

I was hacked by a stealthy Filipino phishing team, and I should've known better when I was told it was a crypto thing.

The person will always approach with a simple "hey" and then proceed to tell you someone is impersonating you. They'll then try to get you onto discord.

From there they will "admit" that they got scammed by the impersonator and they accidentally reported you, thinking it was them (lmao)

Chat from putukspitsvenom.bsky.social that reads "Just wanted to give you a heads-up someone’s pretending to be you here on Bluesky, and it’s causing some confusion. I’ve got proof to show you so you know what’s really going on."

"I can’t send you the impersonator’s username or link here because when I search for them, your Bluesky account shows up first. If you don’t mind, please add me on Discord: fortunepo and I’ll share everything with you there. It’s easier to explain that way! Thanks a lot! 🙌"

The same scammer on discord saying "please let me explain, i'm sorry, i falsely reported your bluesky account for illegal/fraudulent activity cause i thought you were the one who hacked my account by sending me a phishing link for hacking bluesky account and stealing login credentials to all my online accounts. i lost money cause the hacker gained access to my crypto wallet account and stole my 427 usdt. i was so upset when i recovered my account and i really want to report the hacker who stole my login credentials but i reported your account instead of the hacker who stole my login credentials."

SCREEN ACT:
-full age verification. (biometric scans, ID uploads, background checks)

-Deeply unsafe for personal and data privacy. Security/data breaches are rampant, and uploading so much sensitive data to every single we site is just asking for mass ID theft.

-id verification is much, much harder on small websites than larger ones, creating a chilling effect and stifling speech for anyone that isnt a massive corporation

-draw comparison to UK's OSA [online safety act] and the backlash it is receiving

KOSA:
-creates "duty of care,” meaning that tech companies and platform giants would be required to take steps to prevent potentially harmful encounters, such as posts about eating disorders and instances of online bullying, from impacting minors.

-who gets to decide what is or is not "unsafe for minors"? Especially under the current administration

-it will block access to important info minors could use to keep themselves safe or advocate for themselves. Ex: sex ed.

-the vague nature of the bill will almost certainly be used to target LGBT content under the guise of "protecting children"

Spoke with an anon source who had an interesting insight into Visa policy. Per a convo with their bank on the Steam/itchio situation today, Visa put new restrictions into place due to a new "government policy." The exact phrase used by Visa. No specific country was listed as the source of the policy
