Tonight, I walked through Chinatown with business owners and community leaders to discuss revitalizing one of L.A.’s most culturally rich neighborhoods. Built by generations of families, Chinatown has been sustained by a strong sense of community and resilience for 88 years.

We knew back in June that Los Angeles was the testing ground for this Administration’s campaign of fear and intimidation. I am outraged by the violence committed against people by ICE agents across the country, and it absolutely needs to stop.

Peaceful protest is a right. I urge Angelenos to exercise that right safely and not give this administration an excuse to escalate, as we know they are capable of doing. Los Angeles always stands together.

We’re making long-term investments in our school campuses that will cut energy use, conserve water, and give students hands-on opportunities to learn about sustainability. This is part of a long-term vision to build a cleaner, healthier city for every Angeleno.

Throughout this holiday storm, firefighters, police officers, public works crews, traffic engineers, recreation and parks staff, and the entire City family have worked to address impacts to keep Angelenos safe – from swift water rescues to removing downed trees and coordinating safe evacuations.

This new law enacts more protections for renters, furthering our work to make Los Angeles more affordable, so that more Angelenos can not only make rent but also live full and stable lives.

Our South L.A. Holiday Drive supported nearly 3,000 Angelenos this weekend with food, toys, and home essentials. This was made possible by community partners and Angelenos who came together at the iconic Vision Theatre to make the season a little brighter for families.
