Scotland has passed a law that all new buildings must install ‘swift bricks’ which are hollowed out bricks to help nesting swifts and other endangered birds! Swifts are especially endangered because so many chimneys now have chimney caps. Swifts return to the same nesting spot year after year.

I just wanted folks to know that I've been thinking about a new model for a while, why that is, why I'm scared of trying certain ideas, & some other vulnerable feelings.

An announcement, mostly to get some things off my brain & out in the open. At some point in the near future this year, I'll be retiring the model & character of Brakka Quilltusk. I'll still be around, I'll still be streaming, so you don't need to worry about me "retiring" or "graduating" or whatever. I love streaming & this community too much to leave forever. No joke, ya'll have literally changed saved my life many times over. I'm beyond honored & blessed to know you & to have you as part of my journey. That said, I've been moving on with a new chapter in my life, & while Brakka was a massive part of how this began, I don't feel as connected to her as before, & I feel it's time to find a new face to represent myself. Back when I started Vtubing, Brakka was something in which I could find a sense of stability & comfort after an abrupt upheaval in my personal life where I had literally fled for my safety after coming out as transfem to my family. Her being an orc gave a sense of strength & an excuse for why I had a deep voice, her being a café owner & barista gave her a feeling of stability in a time where I was experiencing repeat housing & job insecurity, & her being a mage gave that air of escapism & fantasy that I needed. Now though, there are different needs & wants that I'd prefer to embody as my journey in Vtubing & life continues. Things that Brakka can't really embody. These changes won't happen immediately, however. I'm still working through a lot of hang-ups & fears that I have regarding my creative process. I have a number of ideas but find it hard to pin one down. I'm afraid of coming off as wishy-washy, worried about what I'm allowed to embody culturally as a white-passing trans woman of Hispanic descent, scared of not knowing what feels or fits right. Writing out these worries & making my want for a change known & firm has been a long-time coming, & I hope y'all can understand. Love you y'all so much For now, if you need to call me anything,…

Note from the editors: ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed. The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement. The policy of shielding officers’ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.
