the take on some parts of twxtter is that “asset owners” continue to derive incomes and everyone else becomes “permanent underclass” with no feasible path out. i have doubts about the first part

in the previous decade and before, if you heard a team of doctors had arrived in a poor country that suffered a disaster, you could fairly guess where they were from. similarly, if a rich man fled sex crimes charges to a country that won’t extradite, there is a major statistical outlier. anyway
i don’t know a lot about the details of these stats but aren’t aggregate investment contributions to gdp net of imports, which includes the gpus and many other computer system components?

the losses are the problem. orinoco super-heavy requires energy and chemical inputs to produce, even after the infrastructure is rebuilt. it can be done profitably when global oil prices are high. but evs will be cutting oil demand every year from now on. american shale is similarly screwed
