I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.

The theater experience has to be better than watching at home. If all I’ve got to to do is wait 2 months to see it in a cheaper, quieter, more comfortable environment where I control the lighting, volume and who’s sitting next to me, and your big plus is just a giant screen, that’s a tough sell.
I am not sure how to get people back into theaters or if it's possible, but I do know that if the strongest remaining argument is "you SHOULD," or something about the holiness of the collective big-screen experience, the battle is lost. That has no traction with people who don't already believe it.
