Whilst I, a Tryhard Supreme, thrifted a table, sanded/primed it, had a piece of glass cut to fit the top, painted a portrait on the tabletop with other layers on the glass that changed key details if it was removed
I also carried that thing up to the second floor of the building for my crit

The dude in my drawing 200 class that hung a ~BLANK~ sheet of vellum for his crit for a self portrait assignment we were given two gd weeks to complete outside of studio hours

He sweat and bullshat his way through that against the prof and a dozen peers. I was angry, but impressed

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

New: Apple banned an app that simply archived videos of ICE abuses. Rather than other apps that record ICE official's real-time location, Eyes Up is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." Videos from TikTok etc. Every submission manually reviewed

The plans changed to a different provider and I...think I picked the right one for me? I checked 3 different portals, the enrollment site, called the hotline, and compared to my current plan. Knowing I'll have at least 1 MRI a year means I need a spreadsheet to figure out how to break even

It look the better part of an hour to understand what the new health ins plans are at work. I have a pretty broad vocabulary & learned experience (and used to manage the health plans for a couple of years at a different job). I'm thankful I have coverage at all! It also shouldn't be SO confounding

Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.
