My favorite uncle, Phil Parcak, passed away unexpectedly last night (great health, fit, only 74, in ER for fatigue, and just... went). In his honor and to help my family, please reply with your favorite jokes below. x rated is fine. He had the most incredible sense of humor+ we always traded jokes.

Funny enough, I’m ok with the Boy Scouts being less connected to the military, albeit for completely different reasons

I defy Mr. Salazar to look at this data set and find evidence that the US invading oil producing countries has a salutary effect on the US energy market.

Or any effect at all, really.

Ok, we’re doing this again? Fine:

1. Empire
2. Rogue One (I acknowledge the flaws; I just don’t care)
3. Star Wars
4. Troops
5. Spaceballs
6. Return of the Jedi/The Last Jedi (tie)
8. Solo
9. The Holiday Special
10. Revenge of the Sith
11-14. everything else, rank order unimportant

Need to replace it with a bigger, heavier sign that says “ICE kidnapping happened here and then some doughy loser in a mask stole the first sign marking this fact”
An ICE agent was caught removing a sign marking an ICE kidnapping in DC last week! Do we think he did it out of anger, embarrassment, or most appropriately shame? If you think what you’re doing is right, why are you trying to hide the evidence? 👀

I think one thing we’ve learned here is it is pretty easy to bait Trump and company into a rhetorical overreaction by making factual statements they find inconvenient (like “the military are obliged to disobey unlawful orders.”)
We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community.

The American people need you to stand up for our laws and our Constitution.

Don’t give up the ship.

It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

The Firm is a wild time capsule of a movie. And a cast so stacked that the not-even-named thugs are played by Tobin Bell and Dean Norris.

My fear is a SC majority will manufacture some bullshit reason that a totally different principle is involved in CA redistricting.
At that point, any Dem who doesn't acknowledge the need to impose a full Reconstruction regime on the Court, by any means necessary, should be considered a collaborator
One reason (the main reason?) Democratic-majority state legislatures should plow ahead with redistricting is the near-guarantee that John Roberts will intervene on behalf of Texas' wildly racist gerrymander.

Now Is The Time To Maximize Republicans' Political Pain
It shouldn't matter that the Texas gerrymander might be dead. Democrats have to stay on offense.

russia goes home and gets nothing. they learn from this that adventures in occupying neighbors has no benefit and only costs
Former Finnish PM Sanna Marin put it bluntly: “To end the conflict, Russia must leave Ukrainian territory.”

Just one point. Nothing more to discuss.

speaking as a virginia beach native if these kind of dudes are plotting against ICE then there is wide runway in public opinion for straight up abolishing the agency under a dem presidency

The elder Cheney saw it as his life’s work to consolidate power in and remove accountability from the presidency, leading directly to where we are today.

That said I do think the younger Cheney has more than earned the right to be considered in her own right...
Watching the funeral of VP Dick Cheney and listening to his daughter, Congresswoman Liz Cheney, speak. One can only hope that this GOP will find its democratic compass again and reject all things fascist. I didn’t always agree with VP Cheney BUT he was antifa. He always put country over party.RIP🙏

Behold today's most gripping story on social media.

And if you disagree, I'm going to throw a "carrot" at you.
In Tesco’s this afternoon: an elderly Polish man at the self-checkout, trying to buy a pint of milk and a white radish. There is no picture for the radish on the machine. The assistant doesn’t know what it is. She asks a colleague: “It’s a white radish.” There is no entry for it on the machine.

Given the way white conservative lawlessness forms a *defining feature* of what has been called democracy in the U.S., something we desperately need coming out of this current crisis is a body of history more directly critical of the state in the U.S., esp pre-1960s.
