rest. Other senses: smell, touch, taste, take over when our physiology shifts. Pupils dilate, focus is no longer required, and a more basic kind of mammalian state takes over. Basically our eyes can take it easy when we see someone we find attractive because they're no longer doing all the work.

I have a theory about why "easy on the eyes" feels true. Many of us spends our days in visual-dependent environments. Even leisure can produce a lot of eye strain (reading, etc). So a person who is EOTE is one who our brain clocks as appealing, and then allows the observer to enter a state of visual

Yes! Maybe because of friendship more than love, but my coworkers and I laughed a lot today, at silly things, but I left work feeling better than when I arrived and that doesn't happen very often.

For certain! Sometimes on a cold night I walk up a hill and see my little house, with golden light coming through the windows and just feel incredibly lucky to have a warm and safe place to shelter.

One of my son's friends, currently at our house, just pulled me aside to discuss "something he's concerned about".

This thing? Well, it turns out my son is in dire need of more fall-themed sweaters. He wears too many hoodies. It's (apparently) time for him to step it up a notch.

Still deciding between fabulous-gam-Marlene-Dietrich on Halloween or wide-leg-trouser-Dietrich. The right shoes would make the decision for me, really but though my son is loaning me a top hat and my father a bow tie, sadly neither one had the right dancer heels.

Sitting at my desk, wishing that I could be a tree for the day. But maybe to be a tree is to understand time in a tree-wise way, I dunno. I just make spreadsheets.

A maple tree with golden delicious apple colored leaves. The side of the tree that gets more sun looks like drops of red ink bleeding into chardonnay, but this side is filtering the sun and next to the blue sky it looks splendid.
