There's no such thing as a democracy Roomba. We're going to have to clean all this shit up ourselves. Find an event at the link, and come join millions of your neighbors on October 18 for No Kings Day. www.nokings.org
No Kings
As the president escalates his authoritarian power grab, the NO KINGS non-violent movement continues to rise stronger. We are united once again to remind the world: America has No Kings and the power ...

I know this sounds extreme. It is.

I know I sound overly alarmist. I don't think I am.

Trump is enacting a well thought out plan so he and his allies can rule forever.

But it's not too late to stop them. We can peacefully and forcefully mobilize now. We have the power.

Step 5 of the plan:

Rig the rules and the information. Tilt the election playing field your way and destroy the idea of truth.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

The government is shut down because Trump and the Republicans are hellbent on taking health care away from you.

And they won’t even come to the table to talk to us about it.

This is not about politics. It's about people.

Let’s break it down:

Trump's team "are not trying to restore order; they’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns.... [creating] the illusion of disorder so they can tighten control and stay in power indefinitely." -- Barbara Walter ("How Civil Wars Start") via @tombedsall.bsky.social

A new one from Jesse Welles:

Temu Patton
In front of the American flag,
Saying you're all too damn gay.
Yeah, you're all too damn fat.
All the golden stars and the purple hearts looked dead,
As spray-on Napoleon Commander Casino said,

'Get ready, boys.
Look pretty.
We're goin into the city.'

I hear *someone* is having a sale next week.

I guess they have to try and recoup some of that $2.5 billion they’re forking over for *checks notes* being deceptive? Who would’ve thought?

Feels like Oct 7 & 8 will be prime days to support independent bookstores. 😌
