The mood of the month ft. The birthday boy

Yes, this is me coping with the urge to sleep away every free day I have while I still have to go to work at a mega event and make my last few souvenir purchases for my family. I hope Jimin’s getting lots of sleep.

I wanted to post a teaser this weekend, so how about the name and the summary of the new fic and me telling I’ll post the first chapter next Wednesday (on the 15th)🤭

Hopefully you’ll come along for this journey, it’ll be 10 chapters, posted weekly (though 2nd one might come sooner)

The summary and name of my upcoming fic
Underneath The Surface

“Time is a strange thing, but I feel like I’ve been waiting for you.”

“What does that even mean?”

Jeongguk shrugged, one corner of his lips rising higher. “It means a lot.”

Jimin breathed out. “Really?”

Jeongguk nodded, his eyes flitting from Jimin’s eyes, back to his lips. “Really.”

“You just kissed me.”

“Because you’re the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen.”

Jimin fought a full body shiver, in somewhat half success, leaving him squirming just a little. “Right back at you.”

OR, Jimin lives a quiet life in a small seaside town, navigating being a parent to a little girl and a co-business owner of a cafe. His life is already full and big changes are ahead, but of course that is the moment when a handsome stranger steps into the cafe, eyes only for Jimin, ending up testing everything Jimin knew about the world.

The gifts jk for sure and especially the sequel, no otter worm jk definitely, then third is a difficult one, because I might place a few here for different reasons, but maybe To begin jk or forest and the witch jk, though sand particles jk is a contender too, it’s tricky to choose 😅

“Here,” he said, depositing Jungkook in a plush wing-back chair near the door. Jungkook sat obediently. The breeze stirred his hair into his face, and Jimin reached out to brush it back. His touch was as light as the breeze itself, and like the breeze, it made Jungkook shiver.
“Sorry,” he said, tongue thick in his mouth.
“That’s alright.” Jimin didn’t seem to need him to explain what he was sorry for. He only touched his shoulder and leaned in close and said, “Would you like some tea?”
“Um,” said Jungkook.
“I’ll bring you some tea,” he decided.

an excerpt from my work in progress, body text reads:

Jeongguk feels the fear crashing over Jimin a moment later, a sudden, sharp burst of it that comes from seemingly nowhere. He reacts without thinking, some protective urge in him taking over as he reaches out and pulls the little shifter into his arms and against his chest. His magic surges out to meet Jimin, wrapping around them in a golden, glittering cascade that hums softly and fills the air with shimmering light.
“Huh,” Yoongi says thoughtfully, “never seen you do that before.”
Jimin slumps against him, fear forgotten, eyelashes fluttering as he starts to purr.
“I could feel his fear,” Jeongguk replies quietly as he holds the little shifter upright. “It came out of nowhere and he’s had such a rough day already, I didn’t want him to suffer any more.”
Yoongi nods, “Let’s go to my studio, hm? Can you take all that glitter with you? I think the plants would like it.”
They end up in the attic, where Yoongi keeps all his instruments and the big skylights and French windows allow Namjoon’s plants to get plenty of light. There’s a bright, cool breeze drifting in, carrying with it the scent of turning leaves and clouds heavy with rain, and in the horizon Jeongguk can see storm clouds gathering.
Jimin clings to him as they walk, and when Jeongguk sinks down onto an armchair in one corner of the room, the shifter wedges himself into the space beside him.
“He really likes you,” Yoongi observes as he gently shifts an elderly cat from his work chair to a sunny pile of blankets in one corner.
“I smell familiar to him, more like,” Jeongguk grumbles as Jimin wiggles more firmly into place and promptly buries his face in Jeongguk’s neck, “and he has no concept of personal space at the moment.”

an excerpt from my work of fanfiction, body text reads:

“Wonder how he’ll feel about you once he’s himself again,” Yoongi replies.
Jeongguk frowns, having not that of that. “Who knows,” he murmurs as Jimin huffs out a sigh of frustration and lifts Jeongguk’s arm so he can burrow against his side better. “He probably won’t want anything to do with me, though.”
“We’ll see,” Yoongi murmurs as he picks up one of his guitars, “I’m working on a new song, want to hear?”
“Sure,” Jeongguk replies, and they spend the next hour like that, working through beats and Jeongguk occasionally singing a wordless melody in accompaniment. Jimin is awake but drowsy at his side the entire time, gaze falling lazily on Yoongi and then the windows and then back to Jeongguk, his round cheeks flush from the warmth of the attic during midday. The smell of apple cake wafts up from the kitchen at some point, no doubt sent by Jin to remind them that a dessert awaits once they’re downstairs. But it is safe and warm up here, far removed from the rest of the household, the door left ajar by a thoughtful Yoongi, and Jimin allowed to finally relax after the stress of the day.
He falls asleep with his cheek resting against Jeongguk’s arm, the tiniest of snores escaping his pouting lips, and Jeongguk joins him not long after, his own cheek coming to rest on Jimin’s head as Yoongi fiddles with a quiet beat until he is sure the lunar witch is asleep too. He leaves them both there in the quiet and the warmth and the golden motes of dust, where the room is warded against outside noise and no one knows to go unless invited by Yoongi himself.
