Parkplatzgebühren beim Strandbad finde ich völlig gerechtfertigt.

Soll 1,2 Millionen € bringen. "Ob das tatsächlich so ist, wird davon abhängen wie viele Besucher dann noch mit dem Pkw kommen."
Äh, war von denen schon mal wer im Strandbad. Klar kommen die!

Minor strengths section is lit
I recently made a comic complaining that NASA refuses to listen to my good ideas for improving the Solar System (xkcd.com/2750).

To my delight, NASA’s Science Mission Directorate has sent me an actual expert panel evaluation of my “flatten the planets” proposal! Sadly, they decided not to fund it.

I asked ChatGPT to tell me a self-referential joke.
And I think it did quite okay.

Warum wollen bei Filmen/Fernsehserien die deutschen Untertitel so absolut gar nicht mit der deutschen Synchronisation übereinstimmen?

How come that in 2023, there's exactly 1 media player (you guessed it, it's @videolan.bsky.social) that happily plays whatever multimedia file you throw at it?

The others be like:
"Matrosk..? How you spell that again?"
"This video has two audio tracks; but you are not going to hear either of them!"

The most cumbersome part of splitting subroutines into separate classes during refactoring is rewriting unit tests.
If a class grows so big it needs splitting, the unit tests are usually already so convoluted that understanding their nuances is really painful.

Got the weirdest NullPointerException today: a static final field initialized directly with a constructor turned out to be null, presumably because I had assembled incompatible jar modules into an Enterprise Application Archive (ear file).

Reminder that if you see disturbing or traumatic images, playing Tetris as soon as possible afterwards can help the brain cleanse itself, and lessen the impacts of it longer term.

No, I'm not kidding. And no one knows how or why it works. But it DOES work, and I encourage you to remember it.

Not sure if it's just a matter of personal taste, but nowadays I prefer Java's Stream operations (map, filter, …) instead of for-loops at least 90% of the time.
I find it easier to read, has lower risk of side effects, and selection makes it explicit whether first or last element is returned. #Java
