We need a futures market to prove to the futures market bros that crypto - wait nm that's what they want.
Sitting in a financial services hearing right now with Simon Johnson. He’s quite smart. And it’s worth reading his diagnosis of the problems with and MASSIVE risks created by crypto regulation that has passed the House and Senate this term. www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/u...
The Crypto Crises Are Coming
Simon Johnson warns that new US legislation leaves the industry just where it wants to be: without regulatory safeguards.

Bitcoin blockchain is now against that poor TAMU girl's religion and is in VIOLATION OF THE LAW. I'm calling on President Trump to shut it down.

This whole situation at TAMU is brain-bludgeoningly painful. The person who should be fired is the admissions officer who admitted a student who believes that the literal act of becoming aware that some people identify as non-binary is "against their religion"

Many of us were very vocal (I said this directly to the CAS Dean) that this line about 'tenure doesn't mean you can't get laid off' was not working

I'm glad they listened
The big casualty here, from my perspective is the idea of tenure.

The line I've heard directly from above is that "this doesn't affect tenure at all, tenure is the same as it's always been, tenure has always meant you could be let go during a financial crunch and this doesn't change that". /

Big picture, this is a W for humanities and the concept of academic tenure.

Hopefully, it sets a bit of a precedent in the case that other universities try to chip away at tenure.
