Melania doco is even more banal and boring than feared
Melania’s reflections are as vapid as those you find on posters of mountain vistas or kittens, a fact only highlighted in this scandalously expensive “documentary”.

I would’ve cancelled it the night its film program director spoiled a highly-anticipated film by telling us we’d love its big twist.
What a grift. Subsidised by NSW govt for millions, taking $ from established and now struggling/dead local events yet so expensive it became an inaccessible love-in
No more SXSW Sydney... I didn't really see the point of it... felt a bit like LinkedIn - the festival, and tickets were quite pricey

Once ran the numbers on John Laws’ claim he had 2 million listeners. Had less than 200k. Published it. He rang, abused me, sent lawyers, heavied my fill-in editor who buckled meekly and gave Laws op-ed space in which he defamed me. Not 1 word of my original piece was changed/corrected.

so much this.
In the space of 12 months, marking essays has quickly become a game of whack-a-mole.
The key thing AI is good at is announcing "I've used AI to write this essay"
"The writing is getting better. The ideas are getting worse. There’s a new genre of essay that other academics reading this will instantly recognize, a clumsy collaboration between students and Silicon Valley. I call it glittering sludge."
The Death of the Student Essay—and the Future of Cognition
One professor's reflections on the end of an era, as AI tools such as ChatGPT have murdered the student essay (RIP). Here's why that threatens the future of human cognition—and how to save ourselves.

‘28 Years Later’ is not the zombie film you expected
Danny Boyle delivers tension, blood and guts along with hints of Brexit and a dash of English mischief amid the societal collapse.

Mark Zuckerberg and Meta are getting into the defense industry.

The billionaire and his company are partnering with defense-tech company Anduril to "design, build, and field" new products for the military.
