Can't help but feel we're living through an increasingly existential war between spectacle and substance with spectacle winning battle after battle after battle.

Why the hell aren’t pundits pointing out that the Shopkeeper analogy is the most extreme example of a centrally planned economy you could provide. He will decide which products you have access to.
By this logic, when you get an iPhone, that’s Apple choosing to shop with you.
Trump: "Everyone says, 'When, when, when are you gonna sign deals?' We don't have to sign deals ... they have to sign deals with us. We don't care about their market ... they'll either say, 'Great,' and they'll start shopping, or they'll say, 'Not good.' That's okay. You don't have to shop."

The Party of Telling You What You Do and Do Not Need
Trump on China: "They made a trillion dollars with Biden selling us stuff. Much of it we don't need. Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open.' Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."

When are y’all going to start talking about Trump admin’s actions for what they are? That’s CRIMES.

Falsifying a government record to prevent paying a legally required payment is Fraud.

Kidnapping. Human trafficking. Assault.

Don’t take a dump in my bowl and then say “Hey, eat this huge crap I just took!”
KILMEADE: They say tariffs are gonna cost the American household $4,800. What do you say to those households?

GREER: With respect to those projections, a lot of those are Wall St analysts who have a lot to lose themselves

It’s not mystifying. What would Putin do?
of all the things the administration is doing, i am a little mystified by this effort to completely destroy the science, technology and medical research sector in the united states
Exclusive: Weeks after President Donald Trump’s administration ordered NIH to pull $250 million in biomedical research grants to Columbia University, the agency is freezing all remaining grant money owed to the university until further notice. scim.ag/4if5Rg1

Or that is a malevolent idiot who knows to do exactly as he’s told.
Again, worth at the last considering the possibility that he’s a malevolent idiot who has no idea what he’s doing.
This is nonsense

“Thanks for watching everyone, and don’t forget to hate and subscribe!”
One thing that is fairly clear at this point is that the entire point of whisking people out of the country with no due process in defiance of a judge's orders to put them into a foreign gulag *was so they could produce fascist content*.

I am. I am saying that, at least for Putin. Everything makes sense if you take do.

Taking Greenland and Canada means Putin’s assault on Eastern Europe is legitimate.
Short thread by @samuelwa.de worth reading:

Demolition of Radio Free Asia / VOA / etc is more self-lobotomization by US.

(Not saying Trump/Doge are paid agents of Xi and Putin. But if CN and RU could buy control of US govt, this is their dream version of what their minions might do.)

King Trump-Solomon: So there is a dispute about the baby?
Ds and Rs: Yes.
King: Alright. Let’s split this bad baby right down the middle. Perfect.
Rs: Sounds good!
Ds: Oh no! They can have the baby, please just save…
King: <slices baby clean in half, killing it violently>

Hey. Anyone know who the U.S. Senate majority leader is? I know they replaced Mitch McConnell with someone, but for the life of me I can’t remember who. My brain is telling me John Thune, but it’s also saying that they don’t do that.

I guess the position doesn’t really matter anyways now.
