Agreed! We did Stonehenge the same day, & it was so crowded - it’s difficult to feel any sense of magic then
Lonely sea and skies. Although what you can’t see is the herd of family corralled behind me, ready to stampede past 😆

This is fascinating, an exploration of Paganism‘s history & practices. It nimbly assesses its sources & is so knowledgeable, exploding a few myths (see below!) & really making me think.

Written with a most pleasing dry wit too. Recommend ❤️

Just look at those moody mountains. And beautiful stones, in their saucy little Neolithic way.

I can highly recommend this one for stone circle fans, it’s spectacular ❤️

The most stunning setting for a stone circle, surely. Plus really photogenic stones.

No wonder the Romantics strode about writing about nature & stuff. This place gets you like that.

Swinside - a wonderfully remote & peaceful standing stone circle. Although I think maybe a few stones didn’t get the brief

Ah, thanks. So, Steve joins me in the garden …
Pete, joining me for an evening glass of wine in the garden.

Is this a peregrine falcon, anyone? If not, I’ll have to rename him

Apollo 11.
Rarely seen shot of Eagle, the Moon and Earthrise, taken on this day, July 21, 1969.
Mike Collin's alternate photo is extremely well known, but this one - shown remastered and cropped - is an absolute beauty!
😆 Excellent!
At this stage I either forget about hands or about controlling for wine. I think I may be looking at the longest running experiment ever

That chance visit to an art gallery, and there’s a piece by one of your favourite sculptors there ❤️
I may have had to be dragged away from it by a friend. And I may or may not have been blowing kisses to it (quietly) 😗

Look at it, though

Utterly fascinated by this, about hands in dreams.

Realised I’ve never dreamt about hands. Weekend spent focusing on them to try to induce a dream & test the theory. So far, no luck.

May have to control for wine.

Vowed yesterday not to buy more books. Immediately bought this.

It’s so good! Psychology, science, anthropology of dreams, looking at patterns across regions & times, brain activity etc.

Feel I can research this by napping, too, so 👍🏻

It’s Friday night—time to swap stress for gin and sin.

As thus he sat beneath an oak
An acorn fell abruptly
And smote his nose: whereat he spoke
Of acorns most corruptly.

Fables for the Frivolous (1899) by Guy Wetmore Carryl.

I’m finally getting round to reading some #Baudelaire - Flowers of Evil.

I wonder if he was inspired by Marvell’s Coy Mistress? Quite a few worms as memento mori for beauty - suitably passionate & grim, carpe diem. He did love a juxtaposition.
