Microbiologist, knitter, reader, dog lover. Resist today’s GOP, trump for prison. COVID is real, vaccinate and mask. RFK Jr will kill more people than Trump did.

Give me all the coffee!

Sunday afternoon with my knitting and a snowy Patriots game at Gillette stadium. Perfect. #knitting

For #showmeyourknits cardigan week, here are a few that I’ve knit. I’m more of a pullover knitter but have made a few cardigans. #knitting

Cleaning out mom’s apartment. She saved my “Kii”, which was my constant companion when I was a toddler. It looks vaguely horrifying now but I’m keeping it 😀

I was pleased to again partner with virologist @jimalwine.bsky.social on this piece about the continued, insidious assault on public health by RFK Jr.

We are truly on a bullet train back to the dark ages; prisoners to Kennedy’s bizarre whims.

He is contemptible.

T-cell Truther Tracy is back at it again. This grifter has wasted no time transitioning from her ACIP nonsense circus, to attempting to rollback a major public health win that has resulted in a massive decrease of babies being hospitalized with RSV!
Acting CDER Director Tracy Beth Høeg is not wasting any time ensuring that babies are as vulnerable as possible to preventable diseases that kill them.

Now she's going after preventive RSV meds based on unverified claims from an anti-vax blogger.

The Woolly Thistle is one of my favorite yarn shops. They carry real "woolly wools", often from small farms, traceable, ethically raised. They also do imaginative bundles and kits that I just love. They have a new book bundle that's just charming. #knitting

Xfinity really needs to make it easier to cancel service when someone dies. I don't need customer retention trying to upgrade, I don't need a discount, I don't need to go through multiple menus (none of which give a cancellation option), I don't need to schedule a call back five days in the future.

More than 1 billion doses of the hepatitis B vaccine have been given worldwide and it is considered one of the safest and most effective vaccines ever made. It is very effective and provides lifelong protection against hepatitis infection.

It's a lifetime of protection!

Finished the bright pink sweater and will take a better picture when I’ve blocked it. With the mohair, it’s like a fluffy pink cloud. I worked from home today and it was at my elbow w/ half an inch left on the 2nd cuff. Resisted finishing it during work. #knitting 🧶

While I agree with Bohacek in this case, the thing that bothers me is that SO many politicians base their decisions on their own personal experience, not the needs of the communities they represent. It's like they have no empathy or big-picture view.

I did build an island in the kitchen and extra cupboards in the dining room but it’s still hard to cook a big dinner.

On days like this, I curse the person who designed our house. A 12x12 kitchen w/ 42” of linear countertop and a 14x20 dining room. They obviously didn’t cook.

Every week Life 360 gives me a driver report. My goal is to have all zeros. I don’t understand the phone usage. I have 7 instances nearly every week. I just don’t use my phone while driving. I purposely left it in my bag in the back seat all week. Apparently still managed to use it 7 times.
