We’re asking the Scottish Government and Cosla (the local authorities body) to stop dragging their heels in agreeing the 2025-26 pay award for teachers. We need full pay restoration.

We have an unstable job market that fails to produce permanent roles for a high number of teachers, especially those earlier in their careers.

It is a patchwork picture across Scotland in relation to debriefs post incident.

NASUWT supports the need for a national system to report and record every significant incident of use of force. Recording data can then be used to monitor and identify patterns.

I don’t know that she always listens… but, on this, I share her frustration - the National Behaviour Action Plan has some decent stuff in it and local authorities/schools need to get a move on and implement it. If not, they will likely see more trade disputes and action from NASUWT members. #EduSky

Trade unions have also raised the alarm, warning that social media influencers are fuelling a palpable and dangerous increase in sexism and misogyny.

The NASUWT teaching union has described this sort of abuse and harassment, which is aimed at female teachers and pupils, as a “daily occurrence.”
